Casita Carolina clean and economical rooms in the center of town

Located on the shore of the Lagoon, and only two blocks from the town square. Casita Carolina's is walking distance from everything you need, including restaurants, shops, ATM’s, and more.

All rooms share a yard right on the lagoon where you can relax, enjoy the sun and the view. Two large and shaded palapa patios with tables and seating, hammocks, and chaise lounges provide ample seating space. The swimming dock also has a shade palapa. Bathrooms, changing rooms and a shower are right by the water for your convenience.

Kayaks and life vests are available for rent at a small charge.

Bacalar Village a perfect springboard for all your activities

Bacalar is where many stay while visiting the Maya ruins in the area. Laguna Bacalar is one of the most unique lagoons in the world, with clean and sparkling blue water that looks like the ocean. The Maya called Laguna Bacalar the Lake of Seven Colors for its many shades of blue.

The freshwater lagoon is fed by underground cenotes, where crystal clear water emerges. When visiting Bacalar you can enjoy swimming in the lagoon, kayaking, windsurfing, catamaran rides, boat trips, tour the Fort and Pirate Museum, or simply sit and relax while enjoying the view.

Laguna Bacalar is Mexico's 2nd largest natural freshwater lake.

If you enjoy sightseeing there are plenty of ruins nearby, and no large crowds. Letting you enjoy and explore the ruins of Kohunlich, Chacchoben, Dzibanche, Becan and Chicanna.

Things to see an do around Bacalar

Close by

Cenote Azul
Cenote Azul one of the largest freshwater cenotes in the world, is great for swimming, snorkeling, and diving. The restaurant serves regional dishes and seafood specialties. Closed Mondays. Hours: 10 am to 6 pm.
Boat Tours
A boat tour of the lagon is a must for everyone. Many tour operators are available to chose from power boat, sailboat, pontoon, even jetskis. Take your tour with others or have private tours. Just ask for more information.
Fort of San Felipe
Fort San Felipe Bacalar built in 1729 to fend off the attacks of pirates, also has a museum that displays various pieces and the history of the Fort. In addition to the museum many cultural events are held at the Fort, it has a multi-purpose plaza and an amphitheater. The view from the tower of Fort San Felipe Bacalar is fantastic. The Fort is open six days a week from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm, closed Mondays. Admission $60 pesos.
Num Kaan Ranch
Num Kaan Ranch, on Lake Bacalar, in the village of Xul Ha. Family owned and operated ranch offering BBQ, swimming, and horseback riding. Over sixty tranquil horses trained for the average horseback riders. Join them for morning or evening horseback rides on the trails around Lake Bacalar. About 6 miles from Bacalar.

Museo de la Cultura Maya
Museum of Mayan Culture considered the largest and most comprehensive museum in the state dedicated to the Mayan culture. It has an important collection of authentic and reproductions of classical works, and tells the development of Mayan culture, its origins, as well as various aspects of their daily life. Downtown Chetumal. Open Tuesday to Saturday 9:00 am – 7:00 pm, closed Sunday and Monday.

Chetumal
Right by the border of Belize, Chetumal is much more than a mere travel hub between Belize and Mexico. It offers many tourist attractions, museums, zoo, planetarium, shopping, restaurants and nightlife.
Belize Free Zone
Zona Libre de Belice Duty Free Shopping and 3 Casinos is on the border of Mexico and Belize. The Free Zone is close to Chetumal, just across the Belize border (take your passport with you).
